This milestone provides a momentous occasion to welcome the visionary leadership of incoming President David Oh and Chairperson Shanon Yop while recognizing the dedicated service of outgoing President Shanon Yop and Chairperson Daniel Yoon. KACCWA stands as a cornerstone of the robust economic partnership between Korea and Washington State. For over four decades, the Chamber has not merely been a community hub, but a strategic catalyst for bilateral trade. By facilitating market entry for Korean enterprises and empowering Korean-American businesses within the Pacific Northwest, KACCWA has transformed our shared economic landscape into one of the most dynamic trade corridors in the world. Your new vision, “Growing Together as a Korean Economic Community,” perfectly aligns with our mission to deepen ties between Seoul and Olympia. Through your specialized focus on government contracting and the mentorship of next-generation entrepreneurs, KACCWA is bridging the gap between Korean innovation and Washington’s world-class industries in aerospace, technology, and clean energy. I believe that KACCWA is a practitioner of ‘K-Initiative’ —blending economic resilience with our rich cultural heritage, as demonstrated through WABA Korea Expo & Festival. Your businesses are the backbone of the local economy and the strongest bridge connecting Korea and Washington State. I applaud the Chamber for its tireless advocacy. As we usher in the 36th administration, I look forward to our continued collaboration in elevating Korea-Washington trade to new heights. Congratulations on the successful past leadership in representing and supporting the Korean American local businesses and economic development in general.  I look forward to the new leadership representating businesses effectively and for your commitment to strengthening the professionalism of the organization.  Let’s continue to work together, especially important through these difficult times. In the meantime, I wish everyone health and happiness in the New Year!

워싱턴주 한인 상공 회의소는 오늘날 활발이 활동하고 있는 세계 한인 상공인 대회의 창립 단체로 30년 전인 1993년 APEC 정상 회의가 이곳 Seatle 에서 있을 때, 민간 단체로 APEC 전야제에 참가국 전체 영 사단과 지역내 유력인사들을 초대하여 성공적으로 행사를 마칠수 있었으며, 미주 상공인 총 연합회의 행사진행관리 능력과 상공인의 Leaders Group 위상을 보여 주었고 제 35대 새로운 젊은 회장단과 이 사장단의 취임식을 통하여탁월한 지도력과 활동으로 주류 사회와의 활발한 네트워크를 이용한 정보 공 유와 차세대 지도자 발굴로 순조로운 세대 교체를 성공적으로 완결 하는 모범을 보여 왔습니다.

세계한인상공인총연합회 이사장 김덕룡입니다.

워싱턴주 한인상공회의소 제35대 은지연 회장님과 다니엘윤 이사장님 그리고 임원, 이사진 여러분의 취임을 축하드립니다. 전임 회장님을 비롯한 임원 여러분께서도 수고 많으셨습니다. 그 동안 코로나 펜데믹과 불안한 국제정세 그리고 세계경제의 불황으로 많은 어려움을 당했고 다행히 지혜롭게 극복하고 계신 동포여러분께 심심한 위로와 감사 인사를 드립니다.

이번 제35대 워싱턴주 한인상공회의소가 새로이 출발하기까지 어려운 문제들이 있었으나 이해와 협력으로 합심하여 어려움을 극복하면서 집행부를 보다 젊고 미래가 촉망되는 차세대 한상을 앞세움으로서 워싱턴주 한인상공회의소의 특별한 희망과 꿈이 시작되는 것 같아 기대가 매우 큽니다.

저는 1993년 2월 김영삼 문민정부가 출범한 직후 전 세계 재외동포 상공인과 경제단체 및 한인 단체가 세계한상네트워크를 구축하여 단합과 상호발전 그리고 조국의 경제발전과 국제적 지위를 향상하고, 세계 경제 속에서 한인의 역할을 증진하기 위해 “한상과 750만 재외동포와 함께 21세기 위대한 한민족시대”로 나아가자는 기치를 내걸고 ‘세계한인상공인총연합회’를 창립하였습니다.

미주에는 40여년의 역사를 이어오고 있는 미주한인상공회의소총연합회가 있으며 750만 재외동포 사회와 세계한인상공인들의 실질적인 구심점으로서 그 위상과 역할이 크다고 생각합니다. 

그중에 ‘워싱턴주 한인상공회의소’는 중요하고 의미있는 견인차 역할을 해왔습니다. 1993년 세계한인상공인총연합회를 창립한 그해 9월 서울에서 ‘코리안 네트워크를 구축하자’라는 주제로 제1차 세계한상대회를 처음 열었는데 주요 구성원은 미주한인상공회의소총연합회였고 더불어‘워싱턴주 한인상공회의소’가 열정적으로 참여해서 성황을 이루었습니다. 1993년 11월에는 ‘워싱턴주 시애틀’에서 개최된 APEC 정상회담 전야제를 미주한인상공회의소총연합회가 주관하였는데, 정상회의에 동행한 각국 외교사절과 영사단 등 800여 명이 대거 참석하는 대성공을 거두었습니다. 

미주한인상공회의소총연합회와 함께 현지의 ‘워싱턴주 한인상공회의소’가 유감없이 저력을 보여주었고, 저 역시 시애틀 그곳에 함께 있었던 기억이 있습니다. 그래서 더 끈끈한 유대관계와 두터운 마음의 정을 변함없이 이어오고 있습니다.

1994년 서울에서 치른 제2차 세계한상대회에도 미주 한인상공인들이 주축이 되어 대거 참여했습니다. 대회 후에는 참석자 전원이 청와대를 예방하여 김영삼 대통령을 접견하였습니다. 이때도 ‘워싱턴주 한인상회의소’가 적극적으로 역할이 컸었다는 생각이 납니다.이후에도 워싱턴주 한인상공회의소는 다양한 한인단체와 함께 지역사회활동을 통해 한인사회와 동포상공인들의 발전과 동포의 권익 보호를 위해 앞장 서서 헌신해 왔습니다. 앞으로도 앞선 선배들의 노고와 활동을 거울삼아 지속적으로 한상네트워크를 다져가면서 차세대 한인상공인도 발굴하고 육성해 나아가길 바라며, 미래를 향해 세계를 무대로 더 넓게 세계국가 대한민국을 향한 동력이 되어 주시길 바랍니다.

다시 한번 은지연 회장님, 다니엘윤 이사장님 그리고 함께하는 신임 임원, 이사진 여러분의 취임을 축하드립니다. 

또한 워싱턴주 한인상공회의소와 관계하는 모든 분들의 건승과 번영을 기원합니다. 감사합니다.

대한 상공회의소 부회장 LG 사장 하범종 입니다 제 35대 워싱턴주 한인 상공회의소의 회장단 이사장단의 취임식을 진심으로 축하드립니다. 회장으로 취임하신 은지연 회장과 다니엘 윤 이사장의 탁월한 역량과 리더쉽이 2024-2025년도 임기동안 에도 훌륭하게 발휘될 것을 역시나 기대해 봅니다.

올해는 특히 새롭고 젊은 은지연 회장과 임원, 이사들로 새출발 하는 가운데 새로운 도약을 할 수 있기를 진심으로 기원합니다. 140여년전 나라를 지키고자 한성 상업회의소로 시작해 우리 경제의 기적을 만든, 오늘날 세계 7대 수출강국, 세계 10위권 경제대국을 이룬 주역은 우리 상공인과 기업들 입니다. 

앞으로도 우리 상공인들이 서로 힘이 되어준다면 서로 희망과 용기를 갖게 될 것입니다. 다시 한 번 축하 드리고 미국기업과 한국기업을 연결하는 교두보 역할과 새로운 비즈니스의 로드맵을 만들 어가실 것을 진심으로 바라며 인사 마치겠습니다. 워싱턴주 한인 상공회의소의 무한한 발전을 기원합니다.
