Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson met jointly with Seo Eun-ji, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, and leaders of the Korean American community to discuss strengthened support for the community and enhanced cooperation between Korea and Washington State. The meeting highlighted the growing economic contribution of Korean American businesses and emphasized collaboration in areas such as small-business support, trade, investment, government contracting, and cross-border economic opportunities. Myungkyu Oh, newly appointed President of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce, called for concrete support measures for local small businesses and encouraged active participation in Washington Asian Business Association (WABA) events to strengthen business networking and visibility. Participants also proposed the establishment of a dedicated “Korea Desk” to streamline communication, support entrepreneurs, and position the Korean American business community as a strategic economic partner in Washington State’s broader economic development agenda.
